Scanning Your Artwork

In my case, I found a local print shop with a good reputation for printing custom shirts and other garments. I brought them my artwork on a DVD, and they were happy to help me.
They didn’t charge me for this scan either; they said they did it as a courtesy to their customers. If you can find a place like this, I recommend using them.
You can always scan your work at a copy shop if you don’t have that option. But remember to be very careful with putting it into the machine and picking it up afterward! And don’t leave it unattended.
Another note for this step: You may want to re-scan or make additional changes to your file at the very end, so leave yourself room to do that later. We’ll deal with this in the “exporting” section at the end of the process.
Tracing
This is probably one of the most challenging steps but also essential. You need to take your sketch and turn it into a vector graphic. To do this, you’ll need a program like Illustrator or Inkscape.
