Function of the Electronically Controlled Pressure Regulator
Modern control pressure regulator has a simple function. The regulators reduce high pressure on the indie of the valve to stabilize the output pressure. There are dozens of applications where the internal pressure in a pneumatic system isn’t going to be stable where these devices come to the rescue. These regulators can surely regulate pressure but you should know that they are likely to experience droop. Droop for your knowledge is the sudden drop in pressure. An important thing to note is that pressure regulators only maintain the pressure of the medium and not their flow. The delivery pressure is maintained.
Operating components of the Pressure Regulators
There are three basic operating components in the electronically controlled pressure regulator. Here we have discussed them in somewhat detail.
The loading mechanism in the pressure regulators is going to affect the setting of the regulator and the delivery pressure. The regulators use spring designs for pressure regulation. When the knob is turned the pressure is adjusted accordingly. Turning the knob anti clock wise would increase the pressure and vice versa.
In the electronically controlled pressure regulator you are going to see sensing elements. These elements basically react to the force that is placed on the loading mechanism. They also set a difference between the inner and outer pressure. Modern devices like the electronic water pressure regulator devices use a diaphragm to act as an accurate sensing element. These are commonly made of metals or elastomers depending on the use of the regulator.
The control element is the proportional air valves that is responsible for the reduction of inlet pressure with respect to the set outer pressure by the operator. The control element works according to the instructions or feedback given by the electric signals set by the user. When the operator compresses the loading mechanism at a set pressure valve, the sensing element would experience a change in force which as a result would change the force on the control elements in the electronically controlled pressure regulator.
